10/5/2007: Innovative mountains and tomorrow´s tourism(Published by Berg-Dawson )

"Valuable experiences in mountain destinations" is the name of this year's innovation conference held by Innovative Mountain Tourism in Norway. The seminar is scheduled for the 5th and the 6th of November in the mountain region of Geilo, and the focus is on how tourism can reap the potential inherent in the experience economy.

Norway is blessed with a magnificent nature, and the tourism industry can greatly benefit from thinking in a new and creative way when it comes to packaging, presenting and promoting both the scenery and the possible experiences available. By stimulating increased awareness and insight in how the experience economy works within the travel industry, the future of Norwegian tourism can achieve substantial growth.

This conference themes in with the overall focus on tomorrow's tourism, which also is the name of a conference held in Oslo the 9th of October by the Norwegian School of Management, Innovation Norway, The Norwegian Research Council, The Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions and The Forum for Tourism. This workshop focuses at the imminent challenges of the tourism industry, necessary strategies, the experience economy, the environmental issues and globalisation.

Key note speakers include the Minister of Trade and Industry, Dag Terje Andersen, the general secretary of The Norwegian Trekking Association for (Norway's largest outdoor life organisation), Kristin Krohn Devold, and the president of the Norwegian School of Management, Tom Colbjørnsen.
